You have an excuse for everything.

A former boss once said those words to me. I still feel their sting when plans don’t go my way, when my bank account plunges, when my relationships sour. I look at myself in the mirror and say the two harshest words I know…

NO EXCUSES!

And then I remind myself…

You are solely responsible for making every decision.
You are NOT confused, undisciplined nor a victim of circumstance.

You are solely responsible for keeping up.
You are NOT lazy nor incapable.

You are solely responsible for saying NO.
You are NOT obliged to go along with the status quo.

You are solely responsible for the people you let in your life.
You are NOT a doormat for the deficient, drunken or debaucherous.

You are solely responsible for stepping off the “crazy train.”
You are NOT expected to just go along for the ride.

You are solely responsible for cleaning up after yourself.
You are NOT going to move forward without first clearing the way.

You are solely responsible for your own financial well-being.
You are NOT made of money, you earn it.

You are solely responsible for your own education.
You are NOT unfocused, a slow learner, nor lack motivation.

You are solely responsible for your physical health.
You are NOT big boned, nor have a slow metabolism.

You are solely responsible for doing the right, and often, the hardest thing.
You are NOT just going through the motions.

You are solely responsible for creating your unique form of art.
You are NOT a vendor peddling the wares of others.

You are solely responsible for your own happiness.
You are NOT going to find it without first believing in it.
